THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Finance Ministry has announced the amount for the distribution of salaries in KSRTC as the unions announced strike on April 28 criticizing the Transport Minister for not keeping his promise to pay the salaries before the fifth day of the month. An amount of 30 crore was sanctioned for the distribution of salaries in the Corporation. The move comes as ruling party organizations, including the CITU-AITUC, are preparing for a strike over pay cuts.

BMS also supported the strike. The organizations have warned that if their salaries are not paid before Vishu, they will go on strike, including a boycott of duty. But Transport Minister Antony Raju ignored the warning. The minister asked whether money would come if they conducted strike. Following this, the Finance Department sanctioned the salary. The Congress organization is also on the path of struggle.

CITU leader Ananthalavattam Anandan had demanded to include labor representatives in KSRTC. When K-SWIFT company was set up it was informed that the empanel employees would be considered but that did not happen. Ananthalavattom Anandan criticized the government for not even having that list. He said the minister was taking an irresponsible approach and did not even consult with the workers while deciding the route.
