THRISSUR: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi had handed over Rs 1 note amounting to Rs 1 lakh to the Melsanthi of Vadakkumnatha temple so it can be given to devotees who visit the temple on Vishu day. But as the incident unfolded, the Left parties raised strong objections. The actor also reacted harshly to the controversy.

Now, lawyer Shanku T Das has come forward to support the actor. "Suresh Gopi's program has become a big public relations event in Thrissur. Some cannot tolerate a BJP leader getting public acceptance", he said in a Facebook post.

Shanku T Das also strongly criticized the allegation that the actor made people touch his feet. He said that it is a custom to touch the feet of those giving Vishukaineettam.
