THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CITU is all set to launch a strike in front of the chief office in protest against the delay in paying salary to KSRTC employees. The unions had informed to boycott duty and go on an indefinite strike if the salary is not paid before Vishu. The BMS has also announced their support for the strike.

The CITU is planning for an indefinite hunger strike. They have announced that there will be a signal strike on April 28 and a CITU strike in front of the chief offices from May 19 onwards. As it is a bank holiday, the amount of Rs 30 crore sanctioned by the finance department has not yet reached the account of KSRTC. As today and tomorrow are bank holidays, the demand of the employees to get their salaries before Vishu will not be fulfilled.

The CITU demanded to dissolve the KSRTC management if not capable. Criticism was also levelled against the CMD (chairman and managing director). The money received is not used effectively by the management. 165 crore earned last month was diverted. It is unacceptable to say that income is less due to the strike. The CITU said they would talk until the exact salary is confirmed.

Meantime, Rs 30 crore will not be enough and the government will have to pay another Rs 50 crore to pay the entire salary. KSRTC has decided to ask the government for more help. However, the government said they had already sanctioned Rs 230 crore this month, including pension liabilities, and will not be able to pay more soon.
