KOCHI: The deadline for the further probe in the actress assault case will end today. The High Court had directed that the inquiry report be submitted by April 15. However, the Crime Branch had approached High Court a few days back seeking three more months to complete the further investigation. The court will consider the petition next week.
The Crime Branch will convince the court of the need to question Kavya Madhavan and others. It will also inform the court that statements of more need to be recorded in connection with the case. Several people, including Dileep's relatives, did not appear for questioning despite receiving the notice. This also caused a delay in the investigation. The crime branch will try to convince the court of these matters and ask for more time to complete the investigation.
The probe team will now inform the court of the progress report of the investigation to date and the remaining steps. It is preparing to gather more evidence against the accused. Prior to this, the probe team approached the trial court with petitions seeking the cancellation of Dileep's bail.
At the same time, uncertainty remains over the location where Kavya will be questioned. The Crime Branch is investigating whether Kavya was also involved in the conspiracy to assault the actress. Kavya, however, said that she was called as a witness and therefore should be questioned at home.
