MUMBAI: Director Vivek Agnihotri has officially announced his next film after 'The Kashmir Files', which has caused a great deal of controversy and discussions in the country. He made the announcement on Instagram. He had earlier hinted about his next film titled 'The Delhi Files'. In his Instagram post he thanks all the audience who accepted the film 'The Kashmir Files'.
I thank all the people who owned 'The Kashmir Files'. For last 4 yrs we worked very hard with utmost honesty & sincerity. It’s important to make people aware of the genocide & injustice done to Kashmiri Hindus. It’s time for me to work on a new film. 'The Delhi Files', wrote Agnihotri on Instagram.
This is his third film based on the concept of untold Stories of India after independence. The first two films were 'The Tashkent Files', which came under the tag line of Right to Truth, and the recently released 'The Kashmir Files,' entitled Right to Justice. The third film, 'The Delhi Files', is being made under the title Right to Life. The poster for the film was released by him on Twitter last year.
Despite much criticism and controversy, 'The Kashmir Files' grossed over Rs 250 crore at the global box office. The film is was released on March 11, based on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus during the 1990 Kashmir riots. The film tells the story of Kashmiri Pandits who were brutally tortured and forced to flee their homeland at that time. Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar in the lead roles.
Few years back, I started telling untold stories of independent India.
