NEW DELHI: Hints suggest that the central government has taken a final decision regarding the banning of the Popular Front of India (PFI), reported a national media. According to sources, it is learned that a final decision has been taken in the matter and the notification banning PFI is likely to be released this week itself.
It was alleged that the PFI was involved in the incidents of violence that took place in certain parts of the country, amid the Ram Navami celebrations held last week. The centre’s move to ban the organization comes in the backdrop of these events.
Most of the states in the country have already banned the PFI. However, the government is trying to strengthen the ban by issuing the notification. Last week, violence and communal tensions had occurred amid the Ram Navami procession in the states of Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Following the violence, a curfew was also imposed in the states.
