MUMBAI: Who would refuse an offer of Rs 1 for one litre petrol in this time of fuel price hike? Petrol was supplied at Solapur in Maharashtra for one rupee. An organization 'Ambedkar Students' and Youth Panthers' arranged a special celebration as part of the Ambedkar Jayanti. The organization had announced that it would provide one litre of petrol for one rupee.

The event was also a protest against the Central government's rising fuel prices. About 500 people were given petrol for one rupee. Only one litre was given to one person. Still, large crowd gathered in front of the petrol pump to buy petrol for a rupee. Police were also deployed to control the crowd.
