NEW JERSEY: Two women prisoners got pregnant after having a sexual relationship with a transgender inmate in women’s jail. According to the authorities, no rape has taken place inside the prison. Both the prisoners have had a consensual sex, they explained.

The incident took place in a women’s prison in New Jersey in the US. The Governor of New Jersey said that there had been previous complaints of sexual abuse in the jail and that the jail will be closed down soon.

Currently, there are more than 800 prisoners in the jail. Of which, 27 are transgenders. Some of them have not undergone sex reassignment surgeries. The prisoners got pregnant after having physical relationship with one such transgender inmate, said the jail authorities. In 2020, sexual harassment complaints were raised against the jail employees. Transgenders were accommodated in the jail from last year onwards.
