THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An accident occured as Finance Minister KN Balagopal's Innova car tyre bursts while travelling. The accident took place near Kuravankonam in Thiruvananthapuram at 10.30 pm. The tyre exploded with a loud bang and came off the vehicle. The only reason the huge accident was avoided was because the car did not have much speed. The initial conclusion was that the age of the vehicle and its poor condition were the cause of the accident.

Despite several ministers including CM moving to a new vehicle, the Finance Minister remained in his old vehicle. The minister is currently using an Innova that has a range of about two lakh kilometers. Despite pressure from security officials to change the vehicle, the minister decided to stay in the old vehicle in view of the current economic situation in the state.
