THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The minister promotes solar panel fixed on top of the roof of the house. If a person invests Rs 2.51 lakh for setting up all this, KSEB states the lack of net metre stock which costs Rs 2,000.

In roof top solar plant scheme net metre is a two way meter that records the unit amount of electricity supplied from the plant to the grid and received from the grid for domestic use. The customer's bill is based on this metre reading. The plant cannot be started without the installation of a net metre. Thousands of customers face such bad experience like Dr. Jayaprakash, a former principal of Kollam SN College and a member of the Council for Higher Education, lives near the statue in Thiruvananthapuram. Although he tried to install net metre from other sources it was not allowed. But KSEB states the lack of stock.

R. Suku, director of the Reese division in charge of solar energy, said that all arrangements have been made to connect the solar plant to the grid and stated that stock is available. Will investigate and recommend action against the culprits who claims the unavailablity of stock.
