NADAPURAM: Two students drowned in an accident while bathing in Vilangadu river. One was rescued. The deceased have been identified as Hrithin(22) and Ashmi(14). Hrithin's sister Hrithik was rescued by locals.

The two had come home to celebrate the holidays. The three had gone down to bathe in the river near the Vilangadu petrol pump yesterday morning. While bathing, all three drowned. The rescue operation was carried out by the locals who heard the cries of the relatives who were standing on the bank of the river. The three children were rushed to a private hospital in Nadapuram but could not save the lives of Hrithik and Ashmi.

Both of the deceased were cousins. Hrithik arrived from Bengaluru to celebrate Easterwith his mother's sister and family. Ashmi is a ninth standard student. Both the bodies were taken to Kozhikode Medical college for post mortem.
