KANNUR: Protests are raging for banning Muslims from entering the temple grounds during festival time. The boards were placed banning entry for Muslims at the gathering in connection with Vishu Kodiyettam at Malliyot Palott Kavu in Payyannur in Kannur.

The festival is from April 14 to 19. The Muslims were banned from entering the temple grounds during this time. In Malabar, people used to gather in Kaliyatta Kavus beyond caste and religion. The boards were set up similarly last year also.

The discriminatory attitude of the temple authorities is drawing flak. The explanation given by the temple committee is that the boards are being set up like this for years and there is no further response.
