THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The order issued by the government yesterday allocating money for the treatment of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the United States was cancelled. The order issued by Public Administration depatment on April 13 allocating Rs 29.82 lakh for treatment at Mayo Clinic was cancelled stating factual errors. A new application should be submitted and order must be renewed in order to receive the money.

On January 30, the Chief Minister personally applied to allocate fund on treatment at the Mayo Clinic in the United States from January 11 to 26. An order was issued on April 13 allocating the amount accordingly. The order said that the Chief Minister should repay the amount if it is found that the amount was paid irregularly or in excess on further inspection. It is assessed that the order issued by the department to the Chief Minister stating that the amount should be reimbursed was not appropriate. That is why this order has been cancelled and a new order was issued by the Public Administration Department. The cancellation was accompanied by an explanation that there was a factual error in the order.

With the cancellation of the order, there will be further delay in receiving the amount. The new application will be submitted by the Private Secretary instead of the Chief Minister to rectify the error. A new order will be issued allocating funds on this application.
