THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Salary will be distributed in KSRTC from today. Rs 30 crore sanctioned by the government will be credited today. An amount of Rs 45 crore would be taken as an overdraft. This will amount to Rs 75 crores. Other expenses will be deducted and the balance amount will be taken from the collection to pay the salary. First, the salary will be paid to the conductors, drivers and mechanics.
The workers' strike will continue today at various centres. The Finance Ministry had decided to pay only Rs 30 crore to KSRTC despite all the trade unions intensifying their strike after not getting salaries even on Vishu. The order allocating this amount was issued on Saturday evening. 82 crore is required for salary.
It is noteworthy that the ruling unions, including the CITU, have declared Transport Minister Antony Raju and Corporation CMD Biju Prabhakar as enemies without blaming the government or finance department. The TDF and BMS are agitating against the Chief Minister and the government. BMS protested by symbolically 'serving' soil on banana leaves on Vishu Day at the depots. AITUC is also part of the agitation. On the 28th, all the organizations issued a notice of strike. The strike call is likely to be withdrawn if salaries are paid.
