NEW DELHI: Following the recent surge of Covid cases in Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for people to wear masks in public places in seven districts, including Lucknow. The seven districts are Lucknow, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Meerut, Bulandshahr, and Baghpat. The UP government had lifted the mask mandate on April 1.
The increase in Covid cases has had an impact on the districts falling under the falling under the national capital region (NCR). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued the order to make masks mandatory after Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad and Lucknow reported a small hike in Covid cases in the last 24 hours. Gautam Buddh Nagar reported 65 new cases, while Ghaziabad and Lucknow reported 20 and 10 new cases respectively. The government is closely monitoring the situation.
