NEW DELHI: The Centre has spoke against Kerala's suspension of daily publication of Covid figures. The Centre has written to the State health secretary asking him to publish the exact figures of Covid. The letter also said that the release of the figures after a gap of five days had affected the overall Covid figures in the country.
Covid cases are rising on an every day basis in the country. Today, there has been a 90 per cent increase in the number of Covid cases in the country. The number of patients per day has risen to 2180 from 1150 yesterday. Of these, 940 cases are in Kerala. Ministry of Health has sent a letter to Kerala stating that the sudden release of Covid figures by Kerala after a gap of five days had led to a rise in the overall Covid figures across the country.
As per the letter, accurate publication of Covid figures is crucial to prevent the spread of the disease. Kerala did not publish Covid figures from April 13 to 17. 150 Covid deaths which occured during this period was also released yesterday by the state.
Health Minister explained that the publication of the figures had been stopped due to the decrease in number of Covid cases in the state and said that data collection would continue in the department. The number of patients per day in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Kerala has crossed 100 per day. In 24 hours, 214 people in the country died of Covid. The positivity rate increased from 0.31 per cent to 0.83 per cent.
