BALARAMAPURAM: A family is on a journey to plant trees in all 14 districts to pay their respects to the martyred soldiers. The family, comprising Mundakayam Kuppakayam native Sunil Surendran, his wife Sushitha and children Arjun and Abhimanyu, visits the houses of the soldiers and plants trees.
The family travelling in an autorickshaw with saplings has completed 13 districts and reached Thiruvananthapuram district. The inauguration of the project at the district level was carried out the other day by handing over a tree to Adv M Vincent MLA. The program, which started three months ago, will end in Alappuzha this month. In addition to the houses of the soldiers, the family will give tree saplings to dignitaries and places of worship.
Sunil has won the National Award and the recognition of the State Youth Welfare Board and various voluntary organizations. Their aim is to hand over the picture and reports of the distribution of saplings to the Military Board. So far, the family has planted about 680 saplings.
