KODUNGALLOOR/MALA: Two youths were killed after bikes collided on the Chanthappura-Kottappuram bypass. In another unfortunate incident, an elderly man died after friends of the deceased youths, who set out to the accident spot on learning about the death, hit him. The deceased have been identified as Vishnu (27), son of Karinattu Ravi and Adithyan (19), son of Jyothish of Chingattpuram in Vadakke Pooppathi in Mala's Poyya.
Sukumaran (68), a resident of Valiyaparamb Illam in Mala, was killed when his scooter collided with the bike youths who set out to the accident spot. He died on the way to Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital. The accident took place at Poyya in Mala. Sukumaran, who runs a grocery store in Valiyaparamb in Mala, was on his way to Kodungallur to pick up goods when the accident took place.
The accident at the bypass was on the service road in front of the TKS Puram Sri Krishna Temple at 8.30 am on Monday. Vishnu and Adithyan rode two bikes in the same direction. Vishnu, who was coming from the north on the service road, was on his way to the Krishna temple when he was hit by Adithyan's bike. The locals rushed to the spot and rushed the bloodied youths to the hospital in a goods carriage as they could not find another vehicle. But both succumbed to their injuries. Vishnu, a fiber worker, was on his way to Cherai from home for work. Adityan is a Polytechnic student of Moothakunnam SNM College. He was on his way to college after taking his friend's bike.
