THRISSUR: It has been alleged that some Janadhipathya Kerala Congress leaders took away firecrackers from a firecrackers shop by threatening the shop owner on the eve of Vishu. The incident took place at the shop of Kunnamkulam native Boban in Chelakkara. The leaders, who approached Boban for a contribution to their fund, allegedly took away firecrackers worth Rs 4900 from the shop. They handed over to him a donation coupon of Rs 5000 in return.
According to Boban, the Janadhipathya Kerala Congress leaders asked him to contribute Rs 5000 to their collection. When he replied that he was ready to pay only Rs 1000, the leaders threatened him and took away firecrackers worth Rs 4900 from the shop.
Boban has lodged a complaint with the Pazhayannur police against Janadhipathya Kerala Congress district general secretary V Rahul, constituency vice president Biji John and two others.
