CHENNAI: The US Embassy in Delhi will issue eight lakh visas to Indians in the next 12 months. Donald L. Heflin, Consular Affairs Minister at the U.S. Embassy, said the visa process, which was stalled due to Covid, would be expedited. He also told the media in Chennai that more slots have been opened for student visas and work visas (H, L visas).

"12 lakh visas were issued before Covid. Visa issuance has decreased in recent years due to the Covid crisis. In 2023-24, we will be able to issue visas as before Covid. For this, the number of staff in consular offices across India will be increased." Heflin said.
