NEW DELHI: Following the recent surge in Covid cases, authorities in Delhi have once again brought back the mask mandate in the capital city. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to impose a fine of Rs 500 on those who do not wear masks in public places. The meeting chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal also decided to increase Covid testing and vaccination in the capital city.

The country has reported a 60 percent increase in daily covid cases. The highest number of cases was reported in the national capital. A total of 623 people were diagnosed with the disease in the last 24 hours. Although the authorities have decided to tighten restrictions, schools in Delhi will not switch to online classes.

According to the Ministry of Health, Kerala records the second highest number of daily cases. The Ministry has directed the states to intensify monitoring and prevention activities.
