THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The conciliation meeting chaired by the Minister was adjourned with the board chairman tasked to resolve the issues related to the disciplinary action taken against the leaders of the Officers Association. The chairman will make a decision after assessing the explanation given by the leaders who got transferred as part of disciplinary action.
Leaders of nine organizations of KSEB officers and the chairman of the board participated in the online discussion. B Harikumar, general secretary of the Officers' Association, said the central committee of the organization would decide on a change in the strike program in the hope that the management would take an appropriate decision. The management also informed that the proceedings will be completed expeditiously as per the instructions of the Minister. At the same time, eight of the nine associations supported the disciplinary action taken by management.
However, the association demanded that the three suspended union leaders should be posted at their original place of work and that all retaliatory measures taken against the officers' association members in the name of the strike be withdrawn. The meeting was adjourned with the minister assuring that an appropriate decision could be taken after examining the legal aspects and consulting with the management.
Decisions regarding disciplinary action against the leaders of the organization will be taken without delay, without retaliation and without prejudice. The decision of the discussion was also communicated to the Chief Minister.
The strike in KSEB started on April 5 after Officers' Association leader Jasmine Banu was suspended for staying away from work without officially taking leave. The president and general secretary of the association were suspended for protesting and trespassing in the boardroom during the strike.
Although the suspension of the three was later revoked, they were transferred outside the state capital.
