THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader VD Satheesan said that the police action of trampling the K-Rail protesters in Kazhakkoottam was tantamount to atrocities in Jahangirpuri. Satheesan also asked whether CPM national leader Brinda Karat saw the police violence in Kazhakkoottam today. Satheesan was responding to the media after visiting the injured in hospital.
"No matter how many stones are laid for the Silverline project, they will be uprooted. We are ready to face the consequences no matter how big they are. The UDF will explain to the people the issues related to corruption in K-Rail," VD Satheesan said.
Several locals had protested against the laying of survey stones in Kazhakkoottam on Thursday. Following this, a clash broke out between the police and the locals. Amid the clash, one protester was trampled by a policeman. He said the police beat him without provocation. The stone laying was stopped following the protest. Survey officers returned from the scene.
