KANNUR: LDF convener E.P. Jayarajan himself has omitted his previous statement of welcoming the Muslim League to the LDF Front on the press meet yesterday. He told at the Kannur Press Club that no one had invited the League to the Left Front and that the expansion was aimed at making the vast majority of the common people part of the Front.
Jayarajan's response came shortly after Kanam Rajendran's statement that the Left Front had not discussed the expansion. Jayarajan's response: 'Kanam Rajendran is free to comment. The CPI is a party that is trying to strengthen the Left Front.' An hour before that, Jayarajan had said in Taliparambu that he was sticking to his previous stand of inviting the League to the front!
At the national level, the RSP and others are with the Left. Jayarajan also said that some individuals became weak by standing with the UDF. I am not currently commenting on whether Legaue is a secular party. But we are trying to expand the base of the LDF. Many are attracted to the right policies of the Left Front. The aim is to further develop the front, Jayarajan said.
