THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF convener EP Jayarajan, who invited the Muslim League to the LDF, was criticized at CPM state secretariat meeting. The leaders told Jayarajan to exercise caution while responding and to be aware of the party policy. The members pointed out that the state assembly had approved the policy that the immediate goal of the LDF was not to expand the front.

However, Jayarajan explained at the meeting that the media had misinterpreted his words. According to Jayarajan, the media had linked his statement that he would strengthen the LDF to the League. "When the media asked what stand I will take regarding the Muslim League, I told them that my stand was to strengthen the Front. I haven't welcomed the League," Jayarajan said.

Jayarajan had corrected his stand yesterday following the controversy over the statement. He released a more detailed correction statement on Facebook yesterday. Many CPM leaders believe that Jayarajan might have gotten carried away soon after becoming LDF convener. Jayarajan believes that his statement has caused confusion in the League and the UDF.
