KANNUR: An RSS activist accused in the Haridas murder case went into hiding at the house of a CPM activist. Nijil Das (38) of Parakandiveetil, RSS Khand Karyavahak in Thalassery was arrested yesterday.
Nijil was arrested from the house of CPM activist Prashanth which is near to the house of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Prashanth is in the Gulf. The house was given to him by his wife PM Reshma (42), a teacher at Amrita Vidyalaya, Punnol.
Nijil Das was arrested around his house yesterday morning following a tip-off. Earlier, thirteen people, including BJP Mandal president K Lijesh, were arrested in connection with the Haridas murder case. All of them are in remand. The sessions court had rejected the bail pleas of the accused. Two more people are yet to be arrested in the case. They are also in hiding.
Haridas, a CPM activist, was hacked to death on February 21 at around 1.30 am. The RSS-BJP gang killed him in front of his family when he reached home after fishing. The weapons and vehicle used in the murder were earlier taken into custody. All the accused were arrested with scientific evidence.
Earlier, it was proved that BJP Mandal president Lijesh and Mandal secretary Multi Praji were directly involved in the murder. The case was investigated by a special team led by Additional SP P Sadanandan and ACP Prince Abraham.
