NEW DELHI: The setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kerala is under active consideration, said Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pawar to K Muraleedharan MP. Kerala has proposed four locations to set up to AIIMS in the state.
The Health Ministry said that it has sought the approval of the Finance Ministry. ‘It is under consideration of the finance ministry for in-principle approval. The goal is to set up AIIMS in all states as per Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY)’, said the union minister.
After coming to power in 2014, the central government had decided to set up AIIMS in all the states. Although AIIMS has been announced in most of the states earlier, Kerala had not yet received any assurance about it.
