THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid the rapid rise in Covid cases in the state, a top level meeting will be held under the leadership of the health minister on Monday. The meeting, which will be convened at 5 pm, shall evaluate the Covid situation in the state.

The prime minister has called for a meeting of the chief ministers on Tuesday to evaluate the Covid situation in the country. The top level meeting is being organized as part of it. According to the health ministry’s figures, Kerala stands second after Delhi in terms of the total Covid cases. As per centre’s latest reports, 2,712 cases have been reported in Kerala. However, authorities have said that less than 300 cases are confirmed in the state daily.

In accordance with the rise in cases, a list will be published on those days when the highest number of Covid cases are reported. The meeting will examine whether the number of cases is increasing or whether the newly reported viral fever is related to Covid or not. There will also be discussions on vaccination and the publishing of case figures like before.

Even though there is growing concern about a fourth wave, health experts have not yet confirmed on the matter. Meantime, the weekly Covid cases have doubled in the country. More than 15,000 cases were recorded within last week. 2,593 Covid cases were reported last day, raising the total count to 4,30,57,545. The country recorded 44 Covid deaths on Sunday, bringing the total death toll to 5,22,193.
