Poor wiring and running multiple devices in one plug can cause electrical hazards. Electricity workers, including wiremen, are most at risk. It is estimated that there are currently 1.39 lakh wiremen in the state. Even though a day's power safety awareness is mandatory for those writing the wireman exam, the risks do not decrease.
The Electricity Board and the Electrical Inspectorate distribute pamphlets on safety awareness. Awareness message is included on the Board's website. Electricity Safety Week is also observed in June. But statistics show that none of this is coming down.
