ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), the terrorist organization that claimed responsibility of the suicide blast in Karachi University that killed at least four people last day, has said that the suicide bomber, 30-year-old Shari Baloch, was a highly educated mother of two. A statement released by the BLA last day, presented further details about the organization's first female suicide bomber.

Shari Baloch from Niazar Abad in Balochistan’s Turbat, had completed MSc in Zoology. She had been pursuing M Phil and was a practicing science teacher. She was married to a doctor as well, said the statement.

Shari Baloch had joined the special self-sacrifice squad of the BLA’s Majeed Brigade two years ago. As she was a mother of two, the brigade had offered her a chance to leave the organization. However, she denied the offer and decided to remain with the squad.

The BLA has been targeting more Chinese nationals and China’s interests in Balochistan and Pakistan. Three Chinese citizens were killed in last day’s blast. “Today’s mission was successfully carried out by Majeed Brigade’s fidayeen Shaari Baloch alias Bramsh, resident of Niazar Abad Turbat. Baloch Liberation Army’s Majeed Brigade targeted Chinese officials in an attack on Tuesday in Karachi. Three Chinese officials were killed in the attack. It was to give a clear message to China that its direct or indirect presence in Balochistan will not be tolerated”, said the BLA statement.

The blast took place around 1 pm in a van carrying teachers near the Confucius institute, which teaches Chinese at the University, targeting its director and officials. Three Chinese officials Huang Guiping, Ding Mufang, and Chen Sai were killed in the attack, whereas, Wang Yuqing and their security guards were injured in the attack. There were around 12 people in the van.
