KOZHIKODE: The state government has expedited action following the union minister’s statement suggesting that the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Kerala is under the active consideration of the central government. As part of this, the industries department has ordered to return the land, which was previously handed over to KSIDC by the revenue department, for an industrial park in Kinalur.
The order directs to return 153.46 acres of land. The revenue department will give this land to the health department. The revenue department has already prepared a sketch of the land to be allotted in the name of the Director of Medical Education.
Last year, Health Minister Veena George had said that if AIIMS is approved for Kerala, then it will be established in Kinalur. Nettukaltheri in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam Medical College and Kalamassery HMT were also included in the proposed list of locations for AIIMS.
