THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sasthra Sahithya Parishad has assessed that the area of the Silverline Buffer Zone will be more than what the K-Rail authorities have released. After completing the field level data collection, the council committee found that the buffer zone which was described as five meters on each side of the road but it could be up to 30 meters each.
The study seems to refute the argument that wetlands are not adversely affected. Three months after the completion of the data collection, the fact that even the preliminary report has not been released by the Parishad has been discussed within the organization itself.
The path has an alignment that creates a chance for flooding. There is a serious situation that can affect even the wells. There are complaints that the report was delayed because it would put the government in a wrong position.
Economist and social thinker K.T. Rammohan has pointed out that discussions should be held at the panchayat and gram sabha levels to discuss real concerns. The discussion organised by K-Rail about SilverLine project will took place at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Palayam Hotel Vivanta. The event will be live streamed in channels, K-Rail official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
