THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of the financial crisis, temporary control has been imposed on the treasury in the state. With this, bills over Rs 25 lakh were pending. The regulation came into effect from Wednesday. As salaries and pensions are paid in the first week of May, the treasury control will be extended until May 10.
Normally, the government informs the treasury when it comes to regulation. This was not followed now. People came to know about it at yesterday morning. With the decline in revenue during the Covid period, bills over Rs 1 crore in the state for the last two years can only be changed with permission. Since yesterday, it has decreased to 25 lakhs. Treasury control is rare in the first month of the fiscal year. With the regulation, special permission from the Finance Department is required to change bills above Rs 25 lakh.
