power-cut

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on Thursday informed that power supply will be disrupted in the state tonight due to the shortage of power to the state from the central pool and shortage of coal. The shortage of coal had affected the functioning of thermal power plants in the country.

Electricity will be disrupted for 15 minutes between evening 6.30 pm and 11.30 pm. Urban areas and essential service areas, including hospitals, have been exempted from the regulation. The regulation time will vary depending on the supply of power from the market.

The Maithon Power Station in Jharkhand, which supplies power to Kerala, had reduced production due to a shortage of coal. Due to this, the power available to Kerala will be reduced by 400 to 500 MW. The power regulation has been imposed in this context.
