NEW DELHI: Kashmiri IAS officer Shah Faesal, who had quit government service in 2019, has rejoined the service. Shah Faesal was able to rejoin the service after the government accepted his's request to withdraw his resignation.
Faesal was the first UPSC topper from Jammu and Kashmir. He became a civil servant while serving as a doctor. Faesal had resigned from service in January 2019 citing rising intolerance in the country. Subsequently, he formed the Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement (JKPM).
However, he was soon arrested under the Public Security Act following the revocation of Article 370. After his release, he expressed his interest in getting back into service. Shah Faesal's father was killed in a terrorist attack.
