THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Antony Raju has said that the permits of vehicles used for criminal activities and the driving licenses of persons traveling in those vehicles will be revoked. At present, licenses and permits are revoked only for offenses under the Motor Vehicle Act. The new decision comes at a time when crimes using vehicles are on the rise.
Elegant cards will be issued in May in place of the current driving license cards issued in the state. The minister said that special drives would be organized in the next three months to detect and take stringent action against the use of mobile phones while driving, two-wheelers without helmets and those without seat belts. The Minister was inaugurating the 'Vahaniyam', a grievance redressal Adalat of the Motor Vehicles Department at Alappuzha Town Hall.
