KOCHI: A youth committed suicide by jumping into a river soon after his lady friend killed herself by jumping in front of a train. The deceased have been identified as Aluva native Manju (42) and Edathala native Sreekanth (34). Police said the two were involved in a relationship.

Manju committed suicide on Thursday evening by jumping in front of a train near Aluva garage. Sreekanth was with her when the incident took place. Following this, Sreekanth went to the Aluva Marthanda Varma bridge in an autorickshaw and jumped into the river. His body was found this morning.

Manju, who is survived by her husband and two children, was an employee of a local factory. Sreekanth, a driver, came to stay for rent near Manju's house three months ago. Later, the two got involved in a relationship. Manju's family had discovered about their relationship the other day.
