THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Teachers boycotted camps even on Saturday, the last day of plus two evaluation, in protest of the complaint raised against the answer key and the show cause notice issued to the teachers who finalized the scheme. Several teachers had boycotted evaluation camps in various districts, for the last two days. The Director of General Education has issued a circular stating that action will be taken against the teachers who do not attend the camps.
Usually, the higher secondary evaluation is conducted on the basis of the finalization scheme jointly prepared by experts and teachers. However, this time, the department rejected the scheme and directed the teachers to rely on the answer key prepared by the questioner himself, leading to the protests. The protests intensified as a show cause notice was issued to twelve teachers by the Director of General Education, pointing out that the finalization scheme was designed in such a way so as to generously award marks. There are severe mistakes in the answer key. As a result, students will lose marks, said the teachers.
Complaints were raised stating that this year’s chemistry exam was very difficult. The teachers’ demand is to use a finalization scheme that shall give students, the marks they deserve. Nine days were scheduled for evaluation of Chemistry papers. If the teachers’ protests continue, then it will affect the announcement of results as well.
