NEW DELHI: Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana has said that the courts will not have to intervene if various state governments function properly. He was speaking at a joint conference of Chief Ministers and High Court Chief Justices of various states. Negligence of court petitions are increasing the burden on the courts. If the administration is fair, the court will not intervene. People will not have to go to court if there is proper governance from the panchayat level.
Law enforcement should be through clear discussions. Arguments in regional languages should be allowed in the High Courts. It is not the language proficiency but the legal knowledge that is required. The Chief Justice opined that the vacancies in the posts of judges should be filled and the number of posts should be increased. Police in different states must act fairly. Justice NV Ramana also said that illegal arrests and torture should be stopped. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the member strength and infrastructure of the judiciary will be increased. 'Judgments and court proceedings should be understood by the people and the court should encourage the use of regional languages.' commented the Prime Minister.
