THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CITU Union has gained recognition by getting 53% votes in the KSEB referendum. The other six organizations that competed in the referendum failed to gain recognition. In a previous referendum held in 2015, the AITUC and the UDEEF organizations had gained recognition in addition to the CITU.

A trade union needs to get 15 percent votes to get recognition. However, only the Workers' Association CITU was able to get more than 15 percent votes this time. A total of seven organizations participated in the referendum. The pro-government organization AITUC also lost recognition.
