MALAPPURAM: Tirurangadi native CH Ibrahim Shabeer, who was arrested for beating up women who questioned him for rash driving, has been granted interim bail. The High Court directed that if Ibrahim is arrested by May 19, he should be released on a bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety bond. Ibrahim had assaulted Parappanangadi natives Asna and Shamna for questioning him for overtaking their scooter rashly. Following the incident, he fled from the scene.

Ibrahim was arrested after a video of the incident, shot by a passenger, became viral on social media. Ibrahim is the son of CH Mahmood Haji, treasurer of the Muslim League Tirurangadi constituency.
