THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have registered a case against former MLA PC George for making a hate speech. The case was registered by the Thiruvananthapuram Fort police. The action was taken on the instructions of DGP Anil Kant. Earlier, the Youth league had lodged a complaint with the DGP seeking action against PC George.
PC George made the controversial speech while inaugurating the 'Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelanam' organized by the Hindu Maha Parishad in Thiruvananthapuram. The complaint stated that George had racially abused the Muslim community throughout his speech and deliberately tried to create communal divisions.
Following the speech, there was a widespread protest against PC George. Opposition leader VD Satheesan alleged that the statement was made with an intention to ignite communal passion and create deep divisions in society. The CPM accused PC George of spreading false propaganda against a religious sect and making hate speech that would destroy religious harmony.
