THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P C George taken into police custody for his controversial remarks against the Muslims, was brought to the A R camp in Thiruvananthapuram and arrested. DYFI activists waved black flags at P C George outside the AR camp and protested. A dispute broke out between the activists and George.
The Museum Police reached the spot and took three DYFI activists, who waved black flags, into custody. BJP activists stopped George's vehicle in Vattapara. BJP workers shouted slogans in favour of George. BJP district study camp is being conducted at Vattapara. The activists who came for it draped a shawl for George.
BJP leaders of the state came publicly supporting P C George. BJP state chief K Surendran flayed the arrest of George. He said the arrest was part of the policy followed by the government of curbing the right of free speech. Kummanam Rajasekharan said they would not accept any move to suppress dissent. BJP leader P K Krishnadas will soon visit George's family in Erattupetta. Meantime, Minister of State V Muraleedharan was not given permission to meet George at the A R Camp.
