THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has amended the Kerala Education Rule (KER) to provide prior teaching permission before granting additional teaching posts.
From now on, prior approval of the government is required to create additional posts or divisions in schools. If the number of children is found to be inflated, action will be taken against those who are responsible like the manager, education officer, headmaster, vice principal and class teacher. The financial loss to the government due to this will be recovered from them. The amendment comes amid a flurry of incidents of teacher posts being created by inflating the number of students.
If the child on the school list is absent for 15 consecutive working days, the class teacher must report the matter to the head teacher. The class teacher will be personally responsible if the child's attendance is tampered or altered. If additional division or post is required, the Education Officer should visit the school and verify the number of students on UID basis.
