THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the first time in the state, advance training is being given to those who are likely to join the government department. It is implemented in the Local Self Government Department. The main objective is to avoid delay in learning things in the engineering department where there is a shortage of staff. The current practice is to provide paid training after entering the job.

Those waiting for advice memo to enter the post of Assistant Engineer will be involved in a training program organized by KILA in May and June for engineers in the department on engineering work and procedures. According to the department, this will be a new model in the country.

The first batch will start in the second week of May. Participants should apply through www.forlsgd.kerala.gov.in se Proforma F.1151. Accommodation and meals are free. Everyone is not required to attend training.

The department is of the view that although there may be people who get other jobs while receiving training, the system of receiving work experience before coming to the service will be beneficial.
