THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palayam Imam has levelled harsh criticisms against former MLA P C George. Communal preachers should be isolated. They should be excluded regardless of their religious or political affiliation, Imam said.

Cut for cut and murder for murder cannot be accepted. P C George should apologize to the society. Efforts to disrupt secularism should be countered. Believers have the responsibility to quell the atmosphere of rebellion. No power can destroy the state’s unity, he said.

During Attukal Pongala, the Palayam mosque is made available for temple festivities. Likewise, Eidgah is celebrated in the Advaita Ashram. All are our guests. That is the beauty of secularism, he said.

P C George had made the controversial speech on April 29 at the inauguration of Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan. He had then alleged that the Muslims are trying to increase their population in order to turn the country into a Muslim nation. As the video of the speech was widely circulated on social media, several political organizations lodged complaint with the police. Following which, George was arrested but was soon granted bail.
