KOCHI: There are some differences of opinion in Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in the controversy involving Vijay Babu. Swetha Menon and Kuku Parameswaran have resigned from the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in AMMA soon after Mala Parvathy resigned. Mala Parvathy had yesterday said that it was not action taken by AMMA against Vijay Babu. AMMA accepted Vijay Babu's letter mentioning his resignation from the executive committee. This could not be accepted as an action and is sending a wrong message to the society, she said yesterday.
Swetha Menon was the chairperson of AMMA's ICC. Mala Parvathy had yesterday revealed that Swetha and Kuku Parameswaran had tendered their resignations. The ICC demanded the removal of Vijay Babu from the executive council. Vijay Babu had given a letter to AMMA saying that he would stay away from the membership of the executive committee. Mala Parvathy said that they never thought they would accept it. She resigned against the association’s reluctance to take disciplinary action against Vijay Babu.
AMMA executive member Babu Raj responded that the executive was called immediately as per the request of the ICC on Vijay Babu's issue. The ICC committee has reported that Vijay Babu should be removed from the executive committee. The majority opinion of the executive committee was that Vijay Babu should be removed from the executive or he himself should stay away. Vijay Babu stayed away at the request of the committee. But in the last letter that came he had stated that he was staying away and this made everyone angry. Babu Raj said that it was a mistake in the writing.
The actor also reacted against vice president Maniyan Pillai Raju. I don’t understand the intention of Raju's statement that there is another organization for women, why can’t they go and lodge a complaint there. Baburaj said the resignation of Mala Parvati is a reply to his statement. AMMA is with them in any issue that comes up against women and will never tell them to go elsewhere and complain. In my opinion what Maniyan Pillai Raju said is wrong, he said.
