KOCHI: As the LDF candidate for the Thrikkakara by-election is to be announced today, a move has been made to switch a prominent Congress leader into LDF. Though DYFI leader Adv. KS Arun Kumar's name was suggested, the announcement was changed to secure the consent of the Congress leader. Discussion with KPCC office bearer who is a member of Christian community is progressing. But the news is not confirmed by CPM sources.

Arun Kumar, a former DYFI district president and secretary, is at the forefront of the CPM's consideration. During the secretariat meeting yesterday, there was a speculation that Arun Kumar would be the candidate. CPM groups were also filled with news and photos. LDF convener E.P. Jayarajan expressed dissatisfaction for such campaigning before confirmation. He said the announcement would be made after the recommendation of the district committee and the secretariat was approved by the state secretariat and the LDF meeting. The writings on the wall and the posts on social media were withdrawn following this.

The candidate will be announced after completing the formalities informed minister P Rajeev and state secretariat member M Swaraj. The leaders responded that Arun Kumar's name was was announced by the media and not by the party.
