NEW DELHI: Election strategist Prashant Kishor has announced to undertake a 3000 kilometre padayatra from Champaran in Bihar, on Gandhi Jayanti. Kishor has also launched ‘Jan Suraj’ (public good governance) as part of his political entry. Earlier, he had rejected the Congress’ offer to join the party. Following which, rumours were rife that he will form a new political party. However, Kishor has not responded on the matter.
Prashant Kishore had on Monday announced that he would launch Jan Suraj in Bihar. As there are no elections in Bihar in near future, Kishor said that a political party was not part of his plan for now. “I want to start from zero. I will spend the next three-four years reaching out to people with the idea of Jan-Suraj”, he said.
However, Prashant Kishor’s announcement has not been taken seriously by senior party leaders. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that he has no links with Kishor, while RJD leader and opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav said that he never pays attention to Kishor. RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav had also said that Kishor’s efforts will fail in Bihar.
The offer put forward by the Congress was to strengthen the party organizationally and advise ways to qualify for victory in the elections, as well as to be part of the Congress. However, Kishor rejected the offer after the Congress refused to accept his terms including freedom of action. A category of senior leaders had opposed Kishor’s entry into the party.
