SILIGURI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Citizenship Amendment Act will be implemented in the country. Speaking at a rally in Siliguri, West Bengal, Amit Shah said the CAA would come into force soon after Covid.

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been spreading false propaganda that the law will not be implemented in the country. The law will come into force soon after the Covid period, said Amit Shah. He reminded Mamata Banerjee that CAA was a reality and that the Trinamool Congress could do nothing to stop it.

Following this, Mamata Banerjee came out against Amit Shah's statement. Mamata asked why the bill was not introduced in Parliament. 'The BJP is well aware that they are not going to come to power in 2024. No encroachment can be allowed against any civil right in the country. Unity is our strength. Amit Shah came to Bengal after a year. It is Amit Shah's habit to say such statements every time he comes,' she said.
